These are just a couple of photos from my Out of Context project. It is based on the story of a metal alien born from fire experiencing everyday life. I found that the final outcome was to my liking and overall i enjoyed working on this project, i just wish i had more time with it, to either give it a longer storyline, or be able to edit my pictures further for a deeper, darker effect.

Skateboarding
Right first and foremost, skating is one of, if not my main passion in life. I may not be brilliant at it, but it is something, much like my college work, and other artwork i produce, that i strive to be better at. The feeling i get from landing a new trick, or learning something new, is usually not in comparison to any other feeling.
In a way, to me, it is a way to express myself, calm myself, or if i'm angry in any sort of way, i can take it out in my skating. If i had the option i would be out on the board every hour of every day, not just to get better, but because i love it more than what most people, ( apart from other skaters ), could ever hope to understand. Nobody on this earth can teach you how to skate, they can give you tips on tricks, foot placements and the basic guidelines, but the only person that will do it yourself.
Santa Cruz Skateboards, is by far my favourite skate company out there, it has its own unique style, like the skaters endorsed by it. The boards are usually very light, very durable, and have a brilliant 'pop'. Many of my past boards are made by this company, and i have not found a downfall to one of them yet, serving me well through many months of skating.
The trick called a 'No Comply', along with its many variations, is by far my most used, practiced and favourite trick. It basically involves placing your front foot on the floor, then popping or scraping the board along the floor, keeping the back foot to the board, then quickly jumping the other foot back onto the board and rolling away. I shall post some links in this post in which you can watch to have a better understanding if you please here.

Out of Context: Introduction
We have recently been given a project to work on named 'Out of Context'. The project itself is based upon our own photography work, and our skills on photoshop, to create strange looking or surreal images, that tell a story through several images. Whether this may be focusing on one object or an arrangement of objects. So far i have the main basis for my story, and a few photos to go with that. I still need my location shots however, yet i think i have found the perfect place, and images will be uploaded as soon as i have them.
The story i have decided to depict, is to do with everyday trash, and rubbish on the streets. I will try to humanise this rubbish and give it a deeper meaning through my work, whether this may be through creating characters from the rubbish, or trying to find an inner beauty, and bring it out into the photos.

First piece
This is one of my first pieces of work, it will be included into my Kooky Catalogue project, along with my Out of Context project. I've decided to focus on themes such as surrealism, and general garbage found in the streets. Whether this may be bins, or other trash related subjects. I intend to put a dark/surreal spin on them, giving the viewer more impact on something that we see everyday, and most likely find completely disguisting, but if i can find a way to bring some beauty out of it, i think my work may begin to blossom and look more creative. This is my first finished piece.
On another note, the piece below is something i am working on to a desired finish, but currently i am unsure what to do with it, whether i should add other objects into the work, or manipulate it more to get a darker effect. This is currently a work in progress.

Kooky Catalogue: Continued
I have decided to change certain aspects of what my catalogue may contain. As i have experienced more and more the use of photos, and photography work in both my projects ( Out of Context project, of which i have not discussed yet), im finding that i may want to have my catalogue more photography based, rather than fine art based. It will still be keeping to the dark, surrealistic theme, but obviously with the use of a camera, and the Photoshop programme to get my desired finish on the photos i have taken.
This will give me more items to place in my catalogue, and will most likely make it look 10 times more presesntable than what it would be lets say if it was my own artwork. This way also i find i am sticking to a more catalogue type theme, as i can put in more formal information about the photos, how they were taken, where, when, and the processes i may have gone through in photoshop to get the finished outcome.
My work, and various photos will be uploaded once i have a bigger collection of finished outcomes.

Music

A blog i recently found with a lot of music content i found of great interest. The music content on there has helped me to find new bands and genres of music, therefore inspiring me and giving me something decent to listen to whilst working. I particularly enjoy the Punk and Post-Punk sections. If anybody reading this is interested please check it out.
On another note ive come across a band, or male artist that goes by the name of 'The Soft Moon', and if im quite honest the music is absolutely enthralling, very passionate, and a great listen. I had never heard of the artist until the other day, i came across them whilst looking at another band (Holograms) on Youtube. Once i started to listen to them i just couldnt stop, within a few hours the artist had become one of my favourite of all time.
Here's the front Cover of the artist's forthcoming album 'Zeros'
Very simple in Design, yet its this level of simple that i find effective, and although it is music related, the white on black contrast is something i am always trying to involve in my own work. Whilst pursuing Graphics, this is the type of work i may want to involve myself in in the music industry, designing albums, album booklets and packaging etc.
